The Roots rotary positive blowers come in two configurations, vertical and horizontal depending on which one works best for your application. The unit consists of two figure-eight shaped impellers on parallel shafts. The impellers rotate in opposite directions within a cylindrical housing. As the impeller passes the inlet, it carries air around the casing to the discharge, and expels. This cycle repeats four times in every revolution. The basic blowers are designed for continuous service when operated within the correct speed and pressure/vacuum ratings. The units feature carburized and ground alloy steel spur timing gears secured to a steel shaft with a taper mounting and locknut, and grey iron involute impellers. Oversized anti-friction bearings are used, with a cylindrical roller bearing at the drive shaft. These blowers have detachable mounting adapted to any of four drive shaft positions for easy installation. The blowers also come in complete packaged units ready for use. The Roots Blowers have a range of 10 to 16,870 CFMs.

Sutorbilt blowers are machined from cast iron to an exact profile and are permanently fastened to steel shafts. They are dynamically balanced to operate without vibration in any assembled position. Headplates, also machined from cast iron, are ground on the interior surface to precise operating tolerances. Bearing fits are machined into headplates to assure exact bearing positioning. Anti-friction bearings are used exclusively. Smaller sizes are fitted with single-row ball bearings; larger sizes have double-row ball bearings and spherical roller bearings for overhung load capacity. Timing gears and gear-end bearings are splash oil lubricated from an oil-tight housing enclosing the timing gears. Drive-end bearings are grease lubricated through fittings. Lip type seals prevent oil and grease from entering the impeller chamber. The drive shaft is extended for v-belt drive or direct connection. A thrust control is standard on all units. Vertical or horizontal shaft arrangement is available on all units. Our flux-mount design, unique to the Legend series, is adaptable to either vertical or horizontal installation for increased versatility. The feet are precisely machined to match the footprint of the popular California "Series F" blower and that of many competitive units. Hence, the performance and design features of Sutorbilt Legend rotary positive displacement blowers and vacuum pumps make them the quality choice as replacements for competitive units. With pressures up to 15 PSIG, vacuum up to 16" HG, flows to 32,863 CFM and horsepowers to 225 HP.
